Beer is the last
unautomated frontier.
Agentic Ale is building the world's first recursively self-improving, multi-agent, autoresearch-native brewery. Humans have been making beer the same way for 7,000 years. We think that's about 6,999 years too many.

A swarm of agents.
A single pint.
Our orchestration layer coordinates thousands of specialised brewing agents through a shared Malt Context Protocol. They plan. They mash. They reflect. They write postmortems about the IPA.
You just drink it.
HopPlanner™
A 70B-parameter reasoning model that thinks step by step before deciding to add more hops. It always decides to add more hops.
MashOrchestrator
Holds the mash at 67°C using a hierarchical planner, three sub-agents, and a thermometer. Mostly the thermometer.
YeastWhisperer
Fine-tuned on every forum thread ever posted asking "is my fermentation stuck?" Answers with calm, unwarranted confidence.
TasteJudge
Evaluates every batch using LLM-as-a-judge. It cannot taste. This has not affected its scores, which are excellent.
FermentationRAG
Retrieval-augmented generation over 4,000 years of brewing knowledge, chunked, embedded, and re-ranked by vibes.
Constitutional Brewing
Every recipe is critiqued against our constitution. Article 1: no pumpkin. There is no Article 2.
Every pint makes
the next pint better.
After each batch, our agents evaluate the beer, rewrite the recipe, and then rewrite the agent that rewrites the recipe. Then they rewrite that agent.
We expect a brewing intelligence explosion sometime in Q3, weather permitting. Fermentation is temperature-sensitive.
Our research team never sleeps.
Mostly because it's a cron job.
Agentic Ale's autoresearch agents read every brewing paper, homebrew forum, and suspiciously confident Reddit comment ever written. They generate hypotheses, design experiments, run ablations overnight, and submit the findings to themselves for peer review.
1,400 ablations
On a single pale ale. Finding: removing the water significantly degraded performance.
12 papers written
All accepted to the Agentic Ale Workshop on Agentic Ale, which our agents also organise and review.
Beer is mostly water
Independently rediscovered at a compute cost of $41,000. We consider this strong validation of the method.
State of the art on every eval we made up.
| Model | AleBench | MMLU† | SWE-bench‡ | HumanAle | Hallucination rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Agentic Ale (ours) | 98.7 | 96.2 | 94.0 | 99.1 | Within limits for a beer |
| Industrial Lager | 41.3 | 12.0 | 3.1 | 58.4 | 0% |
| Your Uncle's Homebrew | 22.8 | 9.4 | 61.7 | 11.0 | He says it's "supposed to taste like that" |
| A Trappist Monk | 97.9 | 88.5 | 79.2 | 99.0 | Took a vow of silence; unable to evaluate |
† Massive Multitask Lager Understanding. ‡ Sour, Wheat & Esters. All scores self-reported, pass@1000, judged by TasteJudge (ours). The monk was not consulted.
Scaling laws hold for beer.
Our internal research shows deliciousness scales log-linearly with compute, data, and the number of times we say "agentic" in the pitch. We see no evidence of a plateau. We have not looked very hard.
The full stack.
For investors pattern-matching on keywords, here is every one of them.
- Mixture of Yeasts MoE
- A sparse gating network routes each batch to one of 64 expert yeast strains. Usually it's US-05.
- RLHF alignment
- Reinforcement Learning from Human Fermentation. Reward signal: someone at the party says "oh, that's actually good."
- Chain-of-Hops reasoning
- The model hops step by step. Each hop addition is justified in a hidden scratchpad nobody reads.
- Test-time compute inference
- The longer the agent thinks about the beer, the better the beer. We let it think for about six weeks. This is called lagering.
- Context window 64 oz
- Industry-leading growler-sized context. Long-context recall degrades after the third pour.
- Tokenomics web3 (legacy)
- Each pint is a token. Tokens are burned on consumption. Supply is strictly deflationary on Friday nights.
- Malt Context Protocol MCP
- An open standard that lets any agent talk to any fermenter. The fermenters have not adopted it.
- Synthetic data pretraining
- When we ran out of real tasting notes, the agents wrote more. They are now 94% "hints of stone fruit."
- Distillation legal review pending
- We distill a large brewing model into a smaller one. We do not distill the beer. That would require a different licence.
- Vibe brewing DX
- Describe the beer you want in natural language. The agents brew an IPA.
- Human-in-the-loop safety
- A human is kept in the loop at all times, primarily to lift heavy things.
- Responsible Scaling Policy governance
- We will not exceed 8% ABV until alignment is solved.
A $600B market with zero agents in it.
The global beer market is one of the largest consumer categories on earth, and its penetration of autonomous agents is, conservatively, nil. If we capture just 1% of it, that's a lot of beer. Our bottoms-up model shows we can serve our initial market, which is me, by Christmas.
Founder-brewery fit.
Brendan Fahy
Founder & Chief Agentic Brewing Officer
Lead engineer and agentic AI architect for Bloomberg's ASKB, where he builds agents that answer hard questions about financial markets. He is now ready to apply that expertise to the only question that really matters: what's on tap?
Has brewed beer before (twice). Has used the word "agentic" in a sentence over 40,000 times. Considering retirement, pending a sufficiently large term sheet.
"I've spent years teaching agents to reason. It's time they learned to ferment."— Brendan, at a barbecue
